Seacoasts Sports Club (SSC) will be hosting the 9th annual “Tour de Pooch & Pals” on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 9am-12pm at its Downtown facility located at 95 Brewery Lane in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Spin instructors from SSC-Downtown will volunteer their time to lead the annual three-hour cycling fundraiser specially designed for both seasoned spinners and those new to the workout. All proceeds will go to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) at Nevins Farm in Methuen, Massachusetts. The Tour de Pooch began in 2003, when Jenna George, Personal Fitness Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor for SSC-Downtown was recruited by Marty Silvia, a volunteer at Nevins Farm facility and Cedardale Health and Fitness professional. The annual spin-marathon has grown to be a significant source of funding raising more than $80,000 for the MSPCA at Nevins Farm which is funded solely on donations from the community. SSC-Downtown is encouraging members and non-members alike to get fit by participating individually or as part of a team. Participants in the spin class can choose to register for one, two or three-hour time slots, and can spin as an individual or as a team. Registration is $30 per hour, and additional pledges are gratefully accepted. Those who raise more than $200 in pledges receive a unique MSPCA drawstring backpack.
